Invited Talk: Towards an Emotionally Aware Development Environment

The paper takes a position on enhancing existing development environments to support awareness of developeraffect. To realize this, the environment needs to implicitly interface with biometric devices such as an eye tracker. Such development environments can help the developer detect when they need to take a break or when they need help. Besides helping the developer, researchers can also make use of such environments to study developer behavior in a realistic setting thereby improving tool support for emotional awareness as well as other software tasks.
