The influence of nutrients input on the red tide occurrence

2004
Seven representative bays throughout the world were used as examples to analyze the influence of nutrients input on the red tide occurrence. The study shown that the input from land contaminations and the self-pollution of aquaculture were the main sources of nutrients around the alongshore areas. Eutrophication was one of the important causes that involved in the red tide occurrence. On the contrary, the mitigation of eutrophication would reduce the risk of red tide occurrence. In addition, the variation of nutrients ratio was the key factor to controll the phytoplankton species.
