Asynchronized electromechanical converter in the electrical supply system of powerful energy consumers

In power supply systems of large energy consumers, it is possible to use electric machine converters with asynchronized generator-engines. These devices provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers as well as guarantee such advantages as galvanic isolation, separate parameters stabilization, limitation of short-circuit currents, accumulation and conversion of kinetic energy with its subsequent conversion into electrical energy. Active frequency converters in the excitation systems of electrical machines allow the start-up of units and provide other modes of operation, including using the accumulated kinetic energy. The structure and operating modes of these converters are discussed.
