Seal with sensor means

A seal (10) for a mechanical component (11) comprises a sensor device (14) which is adapted to detect a measured variable. The measured quantity in this case represents an operating state of the seal (10) or one with the seal (10) sealed mechanical component (11). Further, a method for determining information about an operating condition of a seal (10) or a sealed with the seal (10) mechanical component (11) is proposed. The method includes detecting (62) a measured variable by means of the sensor device (14) of the seal (10). The method also comprises evaluating (64) to close the measured quantity to an operating state of the seal (10) or with the seal (10) sealed mechanical component (11).
