Estudio preliminar de la isla de calor estival de la ciudad de Cienfuegos y su relación con la forma urbana

The present work has as main objective to study the Cienfuegos city thermal microclimate in summer and its relation with the urban shape. For this, a monitoring of the urban microclimate (temperature and relative humidity) was carried out during a week of July 2016 using the asynchronous method. The network of measurement points was designed from the characterization of the typological formal areas of the city. The results showed the existence of the urban heat island in Cienfuegos in the summer period evidencing differences in its intensity and location depending on the time of day. In addition, the relationship between the shape of the city and the urban microclimate was determined, which is useful in the design of appropriate solutions capable of mitigating the intense heat sensations prevailing at this time of year.
