Ethnographic Note on Porjas of Andhra Pradesh

Porja is a hill tribe and found in the agency area of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. Porjas are forest dwellers and spread over the adjoining hilly areas of Orissa state. They raise crops in the Podu (shifting cultivation) plots on the high level hill slopes. They speak in a corrupt form of Oriya language known as ‘Parji dialect’.
