System and method for measuring the narrow and wide angle light scatter in a high-speed cell sorting device

In the various embodiments disclosed herein utilize a plurality of lasers and a single detection path having a different wavelength. The laser is mounted perpendicular to each other, so as to provide a laser detection path on the front forward angle light scatter (FALS) signal, a laser will provide side scatter signal on the path (i.e., a single detection optics and the laser is substantially in FALS and a straight line substantially perpendicular to the side-scattered laser). A single detector in the path forward and side scatter signals are separated on their respective band prior to application of a detector for measurement.
