Effects of different formulae of hypertonic NaCl-NaAc solution on myocardial systolic function and arterial blood gas in rats subjected to hemorrhagic shock

2001
Objective:To study the effects of different formulae of hypertonic NaCl-NaAc solution on myocardial systolic function and arterial blood gas in rats subjected to hemorrhagic shock. Methods:Wistar rats were randomized into four groups of 0.9% NaCl (NS),3.75%NaCl+5.25%NaAc (HSA1),5% NaCl+3.5%NaAc (HAS) and 7.5%NaCl (HS).The animals were bled to have the mean arterial pressure (MAP) value reaching 5.3 kPa within 10 minutes, and it was maintained for 90 minutes.4 ml/kg NS,HSA1,HSA or HS was injected intravenously within 5 minutes following hemorrhagic shock. The myocardial systolic function and arterial blood gas were observed.Results:HSA1 could not significantly improve MAP,heart rate (HR),left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP),±dp/dtmax and metabolic acidosis. Both HS and HSA could significantly increase MAP,HR,LVSP and ±dp/dtmax.HAS had superior effects to HS in decreasing metabolic acidosis. Conclusions:HAS is a suitable formula for hypertonic NaCl-NaAc solution in the treatment of hemorrhagic shock.
