Research on Energy Recovery of Superconducting Pulsed Power Supply

2021
Superconductingpulsed power supplies have gained increasing popularity due to its advantages of high energy storage density, longenergy storage time, low loss and low power requirements for charging power sources. In order to realize the recovery of residual energy and improve the energy efficiency, a novel SPPS capable of energy recovery was proposed in our previous work. A capacitor branch is added to accelerate the change of inductor currents and promote the recovery of residual energy. The working principle and key parameters are analyzed in detail in this paper so as to further study the feasibility of the novel SPPS. The influence of the added capacitor value and the switch trigger delay time on the characteristics of the power supply is researched. As the capacitance decreases, the recovery of residual energy is accelerated and the recovered energy is slightly improved. But smaller capacitance increases the capacitor voltage. As the delay time increases, the capacitor voltage reduces but the recovered energy also decreases. The recovered energy in capacitor accelerates the discharging process of next cycle and increases the output current.
