Structure and method of bonding thermal insulation protection of walls of a natural gas transport device liquefied.

2007
The present invention relates to a structure and method for bonding thermal insulation shielding walls (10, 12). Each of the walls (10, 12) is formed with a layer of foam insulation (14) and a composite backing sheet reinforced with fibers (16) fixed to a surface of the foam layer (14). The walls (10, 12) are provided in a reservoir in mutually adjacent relationship and bonded to each other at a junction (18) to maintain the cold tank. The structure comprises a composite joint reinforced sheet of fibers (30) positioned in alignment with the junction (18) of the walls (10, 12) and adhered to the backing sheet (16) by an adhesive agent (40) and spacer means (50) interposed between the backing sheet (16) and the joining sheet (30) to maintain the adhesive agent (40) to a uniform thickness.
