An audiovisual quality model of compressed television materials for portable and mobile multimedia applications

2010
This paper describes experimental study of multimodal quality of compressed television materials for portable and mobile devises. The results of the study are used to discuss the characteristics of how auditory and visual channels interact in producing multimodal quality perception. It is shown in the paper that multimodal audiovisual perceptual quality should be taken into account. We propose the polynomial model of multimodal quality assessment of compressed television materials, based on integration of two modalities (audio and video) that can be used for optimum bit rate allocation in multimedia application.
