Contrast Enhancement Using Savitzky Golay Filter Convolution Coefficients

Contrast enhancement plays a vital role in image processing applications. External conditions at the time of image acquisition, poor quality of picture capturing device can cause poor contrast in images. In low contrast images, quality and fine details of the images are degraded. To improve the quality of the images from the low contrast images, various contrast enhancement methods are proposed. In this paper, we have introduced a new contrast enhancement technique using Savitzky Golay filter. Results are compared with existing different contrast enhancement techniques and are found to be encouraging.
