How Can We Solve the Language Problem at International Medical Meetings

Since the building of the tower of Babel the problem of languages has always beset humanity. The ability of man to communicate by speech has raised him higher than the average animal, but different tongues and dialects have made full understanding at international meetings extremely difficult, I know a few instances in which one language has been accepted throughout the world for certain purposes. For example, the common language for diplomacy was, and probably still is, French. In Rome and in the Roman Catholic church, the clergy can understand Latin and converse in that tongue. And in the world of air transport and travel, English is the accepted language.
