The invention discloses a flaky vanadium dioxide film material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: performing deposition film coating within a certain voltage range by using an anodic oxidation method and performing annealing treatment within a certain temperature range, thus obtaining a film with a flaky structure. In a solution for deposition film coating, the mixed liquor of water and one or more than one of alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and n-propanol is used as a solvent, wherein the volume ratio of the alcohols to the water is 0:1 to 1:1; and a quadrivalent vanadium compound is used as a solute and the molar concentration is 0.01 to 10mol/L. The pH value of the solution is regulated to a certain interval and an auxiliary and a dispersing agent are added for aging for a certain time. The flaky vanadium dioxide film prepared by the anodic oxidation method has a uniform and regular shape and a large specific surface area; reaction conditions are mild, a process is simple, and the preparation method is high in efficiency, low in energy consumption and suitable for popularization and application.
