EXPECTANCY AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS HIGHER DISTANCE EDUCATION

They are exposed the results of a qualitative research that explored the role of the expectancy, as motivational disposition, in the academic success in distance university studies. To this purpose, 124 graduates from Education, Administration and Accounting, Engineering and Mathematics at the National Open University were consulted. It therefore follows that the individual belief, that can be adapted to distance education trough organized and systematic actions, generates intrinsic conditions for the academic success and the graduation from an educational environment which is essentially characterized by the physical separation between teachers and students.
