Hereditary of leaf color of a tobacco mutant.

The growth characteristic,agronomic characters and genetic feature of a yellow leaf mutant obtained from tobacco tissue culture were studied.The results showed that the yellow leaf of the new mutant was controlled by two pairs of recessive nuclear genes.The leaf color of the mutant is yellowish green from the seedling stage and its growth vigor shows no difference with normal plants with green leaves.The leaf color of F1 plants from the reciprocal cross between the mutant and other pure tobacco varieties with normal green leaves is green.The proportion between plants with green leaves and yellow leaves in F2 generation accords with Mendel's law and the proportion between plants with green leaves and yellow leaves in BC1 generation accords with 3(green leaf) ∶1(yellow leaf).
