Advances in Growth and Development in Crustaceans Induced by Eyestalk Ablation

Eyestalk ablation operation generally uses in crustaceans farming because of its significantly role in promoting gonadal development. It performes the effect by direct impact on the neuroendocrine function of X-organ sinus gland(XO-SG) complex in eyestalk. As an important endocrine organ, studies on XO-SG complex become research priorities in crustacean endocrinology. In this review, the biological structure and physiological functions of XO-SG complex were interviewed; the molecular mechanism of eyestalk neuroendocrine was summarized, providing theoretical references for further study on regulation mechanism of eyestalk neuroendocrine system.
