Advanced desiccant-cooling-system development. Residential laboratory prototype testing. Topical report, November 1987-March 1989

1989
A residential desiccant cooling system (DCS) unit was designed as a scaled-down version of the commercial unit developed in Phase I. Tests were performed in laboratory test loop that incorporates an air makeup station with heaters and humidifiers to create the desired test conditions. Testing of the heat exchanger, performed outside of the system, resulted in several design changes which significantly improve performance. An effectiveness of 89-90% was measured at the design airflow.
