Astragalus injection in treating periventricular leukomalacia in premature infants

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of astragalus injection in treating periventricular leukomalacia in premature infants.Methods Eighty-five premature infants with periventricular leukomalacia who were in newborn intensive care uint of our hospital from October 2006 to September 2010 were randomly divided into the control group(42 cases)and astragalus injection group (43 cases).The cases in control group(group Ⅰ)were given routine treatment.The cases in astragalus injection group(group Ⅱ)were given astragalus injection on the base of the control group.The differences of B ultrasonic were observed and were analyzed by statistics.Results ①The effective rate in astragalus injection group was obviously higher than that in control group.There were significant difference between the two groups by statistics(P ＜ 0.05).②Neonatal behavioral neurological assessment(NBNA)was evaluated when age of the newborns were 40 weeks and 41 weeks.There was obvious difference between the two groups(P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Astragalus injection have obvious effect on treating periventricular leukomalacia in premature infants and can improve the prognosis.
