Production of Tobacco Hornworm Moths from Field-Collected Larvae
1969
Large numbers of virgin female moths of Manduca sexta (Johannson) were needed for collection, isolation, and identification of a sex pheromone that attracts the male moth. An outdoor method that was used for producing the moths from larvae collected on growers’ farms or from tobacco grown under shade cloth is described.
