Polymorphism of Major Histocompatibility System of Man Its Function, Indication, Detection and Interpretation

2015
The major histocompatibility system of man is the genetic system of the human leukocyte antigen, the most polymorphic region of the human genome, which determines the function and individual parameters of the immune system. Faulty immune response to antigenic stimulus may manifest itself as hypersensitivity, immunodeficiency or autoimmunity. Detection of this polymorphism and study of its functional behavior can be of help in elucidation of the pathogenesis of many diseases and thus to contribute to their immunotherapeutic treatment.
