Chemotherapy protocols used in veterinary practice

2012
Chemotherapy is widely used by veterinary practices in the UK, and the most common indication is for treating canine lymphomas. In a Vetnosis study conducted in 2008, 98 per cent of respondents reported that they used chemotherapy in small animal practice. The aim of this article is to summarise the chemotherapy protocols that are regularly used, discuss their applications and give practical guidance in their use. The article will also consider the rights and responsibilities associated with the decision to use cytotoxic chemotherapy, and discuss the toxicities associated with generic treatment.
