Description for elastic α-d scattering obtained from a microscopic calculation for the 6Li scattering system

Abstract Scattering states of the 6 Li system are calculated in the cluster model multichannel reaction scheme starting from a carefully chosen effective nucleon-nucleon potential which contains Coulomb, central, spin-orbit and tensor parts. In addition to α-d and 3 He- 3 H channels, α-n-p break-up channels are considered in the sequential decay approximation. It is shown that only the inclusion of these channels leads to quantitative agreement between theoretical and experimental values for the α-d elastic cross sections and polarizations.
