Heat flow in thermally addressed liquid-crystal displays
1983
Thermal addressing of both smectic and nematic liquid-crystal displays by melting has recently been demonstrated and is very promising. We present a theoretical and experimental investigation of the heat flow characteristics and suggest suitable combinations of power density and pulse length. In addition, we demonstrate a simple method of measuring the thermal diffusivity of the liquid crystal.
