Implementing human factors training for space crews

1995
Based on a review of (psychological) human factors problems asso- ciated with manned space missions, a comprehensive concept to imple- ment human factors training for space crews is described. This concept suggests two different training approaches at different stages during the career of astronauts: (1) basic human factors training to be scheduled at the beginning of an astronaut's career; and (2) crew-oriented psychological mission preparation to be scheduled after a specific crew has been assigned for a certain mission. First experiences with some parts of this training concept are briefly described.
