Article 27 [Exceptions to Internal Market Regulations]

2021
Article 27 TFEU dates back to Article 15 of the Single European Act of 28 February 1986 and was in its version as of 1 July 1987 incorporated as Article 8 C into the EEC Treaty until 31 October 1993. On the Maastricht Reform Treaty, it was codified in the Union’s primary law as Article 7c EC Treaty and then since 1 May 1999 until the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon as Article 15 TEC-Amsterdam. Since the Single European Act, its content stands almost unchanged in the primary law. This Treaty rule is the result of an initiative of the southern Member States and ought to take into account the expected consequences of the uniform internal market rules in light of greatly differing national economic situations of the Member States.
