Glucan synthesis by the oral bacterium Streptococcus mutans from caries-active and caries-free naval recruits

Abstract Strep. mutans isolates from caries-active recruits synthesized significantly more insoluble glucans than the Strep. mutans from caries-free recruits. There were no significant differences in the amount of soluble glucans synthesized.
