Detection of Pattern of Structural Geology Using Automatic Remote Sensing Methods, A Case Study: Uromia Quadrangle
2016
The spatial distribution pattern of geological lineaments under the influence of structural features, stratigraphy and lithology is at the regional or local level. Through geological lineaments indication, significant gains can be achieved to manage natural disasters such as earthquake. The use of RS and GIS techniques for the indication of lineaments reduces the limits of traditional tectonic methods. In this study, the quadrangle Urumiyeh including parts of Alborz:Azerbayjan and Khoi: Mahabad areas are analyzed. The purpose of this study is to automatically indicate structural lineaments using RS and GIS techniques. To achieve this goal, firstly, the algorithm of drawing components was designed and implemented. Then, lineaments were analyzed from the perspective of spatial location. Finally, a few of them underwent desert studies. Our findings suggest that in addition to geological lineaments on the map, other 806 lineaments can be identified. Also, the results of desert studies showed that the cause of some of the lineaments have been due to human activities. Most fractures have dextral fault mechanism with reverse component, and others have sinistral fault mechanism with normal component. Also, for investigating the assessment of accuracy, generic accuracy and kappa coefficient were used including 80% and 74%, respectively. These results suggest that the algorithm of drawing components is able to indicate structural geology.
