RETRACTED: Proximal humerus fractures treated by percutaneous locking plate internal fixation

2009
This article has been retracted at the request of the Editors-in-Chief and Author. Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy ). Reason: Alerted by the university authorities of Montreal, the editors of Orthopaedics & Traumatology: Surgery & Research (OTSR) have observed that this work had been the object of a previous publication in Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma (Editor-in-Chief: Roy Sanders): Percutaneous Plating of Fractures of the Proximal Humerus: Results of a Prospective Multicenter Clinical Trial, by GY Laflamme, DM Rouleau, GK Berry, PH Beaumont, R Reindl, EJ Harvey, J. Orthop. Trauma 22 (2008) 153–158. Analysis of the two articles has led the editors of OTSR to conclude that this is a double publication according to the criteria established by the Committee on Publication Ethics: the data published in the article of OTSR are similar to those published beforehand in Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma without reference to this work or authorization from the publishers of Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma . The editors and Dr Julien Girard, corresponding author of the article, therefore took the decision to retract the article in its English indexed version (OTSR). However, the editors of OTSR wish to bring to the attention of their readers that the article was submitted in French in January 2008 by Dr Julien Girard, corresponding author of the article, just before the publication of the article in Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma . It was thus not possible for the editors of OTSR to have knowledge of the publication in Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma . Finally, at the date of submission, the journal consisted only of a French version ( Revue de Chirurgie Orthopedique ); in publishing in the journal the authors had thus wished to share with the French-speaking orthopaedic community the fruits of their work. The requests for modifications of the article by the authors led to the final version being received in September 2008, at which time Revue de Chirurgie Orthopedique was putting in place its own English language indexed version (OTSR). It was thus natural, and with the agreement of the corresponding author, that this article was included in the first 2009 issue of OTSR. The editors and Dr Julien Girard apologize for this unfortunate event and ensure that they will implement ways to prevent future similar incidents.
