Uso dos antissépticos no tratamento das feridas crônicas:: revisão integrativa

Find evidence in the literature about the use of antiseptics inthe treatment of chronic wounds, their advantages and disadvantages incoming into contact with the wound, and the risks involved. Method: Themethod used to carry out this research was the integrative review, since it allowed the evaluation of varied studies in a systematized way, thusallowing a better evaluation of the results obtained during the research.Results: The results obtained in this research show that the use of antiseptic in the treatment of chronic wounds is now a problem that leavesmany professionals with doubts regarding its correct use and effectiveness. However, some authors note that these solutions can be used onlyexceptionally and with caution, since their toxicity can overcome any benefit. If professionals use antiseptics as bactericidal agents, their efficacy should be evaluated because of the harmful effects they can cause tohealthy tissue. Conclusion: The results of this study allow us to concludethat there is a discussion among several authors about the advantages anddisadvantages of the use of antiseptic in the treatment of chronic wounds,since it is necessary to analyze the risks of the use of the product. In addition, the development of new experimental studies involving larger samples will add to the evidence available here for more accurate and reliabledetermination of the use of these products in chronic wounds.
