Combined optimization of FFE and CTLE Equalizations by Analysis of Pulse Response

Equalization is typically used to counteract the channel loss for signal integrity. The separate optimization for tap coefficients of feed forward equalizer (FFE) and the transfer function of continuous time linear equalizer (CTLE) may not give the optimal result for the channel with both FFE and CTLE applied. A method of combined optimization of FFE and CTLE equalizations based on the analysis of pulse response is proposed in this paper. The simulation result of eye diagrams proves the collaboration of FFE and CTLE equalizations can be optimized with the proposed method.
