2013
The present study was conducted purposively in two severely affected drought prone districts of Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh to study the impact of drought on productive and reproductive performance of goats. Data were collected from 240 goat owning families through personal interview schedule. Asignificant change was found in average lactation yield of goats, (74.88±2.96 litre) from drought period to normal (111.65±4.82 litres) period. The highest average yield fell significantly during drought (1.17 litre in goats) from normal (1.48±0.06 litre). A significant change was noticed in the average lactation length during drought (102.75±3.93 days) from normal period (122.13±4.63 days). The results of reproductive performance in goats revealed significant increase in length in the service period due to stressful conditions during drought (4.53±0.19 months) from normal period (2.40±0.1 0 months). Dry period was highly affected and was found significantly longer during drought. Drought affected the age atfirst kidding up to 60%.
