Tertiary Syphilis with Facial Paralysis

A 41-year-old man patient had peripheral facial paralysis, and osteolytic and osteoblastic lesions in the pelvis, skull, sternum, dorsal vertebrae, and left tibia. The cause of the disease was tertiary syphilis. Clinical and radiologic features are presented. This rare illness is discussed. Only nine cases of luetic facial paralysis have been reported in the literature since 1945, all of them of secondary syphilis. The prognosis for facial nerve functions is good with early correct antibiotic therapy.
