Structural and Magnetic Investigations on Model Cu4O4 Cubane — Like Clusters

It is well known that the binuclear copper centers play an important role in the catalytic processes of the multicopper containing proteins (1). In simple molecules the electronic interaction between the two copper centers is currently described, but many questions remain unsolved. In order to gain more understanding of the relationshipe between exchange interactions and geometric and electronic factors, a detailed description of structures and magnetic properties of the Cu4O4 cubane-like molecules is helpful.
