The one-electron oxidation of 1,1-bis(5-trifluoroacetyl-2-furyl)alkanes by cupric salts

1986
1. Anions absorbing in the visible spectrum are formed from l,l-bis(trifluoroacetyl-2-furyl) alkanes in dipolar aprotic solvents and ethanolic alkalis. 2. Difurylmethyl anions are oxidized under mild conditions by cupric compounds to radicals which, depending on the nature of the ligand at the metal ion, either recombine or undergo oxidation solvolysis in alconolic media.
