Thousands of preadolescents and adolescents use social networking sites - especially Facebook - on a daily basis. Owing the public nature of most user profiles, as well as the wealth of social connections established online by these categories of users, the integration of the richness of information provided online with the off-line counselling practices becomes compulsory. Thus, this study examines current psychological research addressing students behaviour on social networking sites and discuss the relevance of such findings for the area of educational counselling.
