Image analysis via optical wavelet transform

Abstract An optical implementation of the wavelet and inverse wavelet transforms is introduced. Appropriate wavelets and their corresponding band-pass filters are selected for optical processing. A multichannel optical processing system with two gratings is set up to obtain image representation and image reconstruction. Experimental results of optical wavelet transforms are given. The advantages and limitations of optical wavelet transforms are discussed.
