Nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Epstein-Barr virus--associated serologic markers.

The association of NPC and EBV is well established. The EBV-specific serologic profile of patients with possible NPC is valuable for the clinical assessment of the disease. We review the immunologic responses of patients with NPC to the different EBV-specific serologic markers. The application of these markers in the diagnosis, early detection, and prognosis of the disease is also discussed.
