Arrangement for detecting the occupancy state of a seat

The invention relates to an arrangement for detecting the occupancy state of a seat (1), especially in vehicles. It comprises a transmitter (2) a weak high-frequency signal and at least one receiver of that signal. The received power depends on whether a person (P) between the transmitter is (2) and receiver (3) and is measured and evaluated with regard to their size, in particular by comparison with at least one threshold value. A seat (1) can be assigned to a plurality of receivers (3A, 3B, 3C), wherein a seat or a plurality of seats in a room or vehicle, a single transmitter (2) can be associated. In application of the invention not only the occupancy state of the seat (1) as such, but also the seating position of a person (P) in the seat (1) can be detected on significant criteria for triggering of restraint systems (airbags, belt tensioners).
