Green Technology for Highland Filtering System

2015
Water is a basic need of human lives. Residents of rural areas such as aborigine used natural water resources as the main source of water supply. Reservoir was built on the top of hilly area to collect water before it was discharged through a pipe system that uses gravity force to flow down to the settlements. However, the filter used in the reservoir is often clogged with foreign material such as leaves, twigs and moss especially after raining. It is requires the residents to commute up the hill to clean the clogged filter. A lot of energy and time are required to manage the irrigation systems. Specifically, this paper works on creating a prototype filtration system using new ideas in order to overcome problem of clogged on filtering system. Thus, an innovation to the old custom filter system had been conducted as the filter will be cleaned automatically using solar energy. The filter was specially designed as the filter equipped with electrical motors, washer rods, power supply units and automatic control box. It can be operated non-stop for an hour. The prototype filters was designed with emphasising a few factors; welding techniques, welding safety and effectiveness of the prototype during this work. This filter system was capable to supply clean water to consumers with low access of workforce and low cost of management as solar energy has been used. Thus, the life of the aborigine can be enhanced by the availability of the green technology filter system that can be operated automatically according to a predetermined rate to wash all the debris that accumulated on the filter. The management of time and energy can be maximised.
