Epidemiological Surveillance of Vaccine-preventable Diseases in Okinawa Prefecture,2001

2003
Epidemiological surveillance of the Japanese encephalitis, rubella, measles and influenza which are vaccine-preventable diseases was performed in order to understand the actual situation of herd immunity and to predict prevalence of diseases. On investigation of Japanese encephalitis HI antibody in pigs, 2-ME susceptible antibody was obserbed by May 8, more than 50% of pigs showed HI antibody positive by July 31. Anti-rubella virus antibody positive rate among inhabitants was lower than nationwide average of that. For prevention of Congential Rubella Syndrome, to increase positive rate in the teen-age females is necessary. Anti-measles PA antibody positive rate among inhabitants maintained over 96% except 0-1 year old group. This result was supposed by epidemic in 1998-1999 and 2001 in Okinawa prefecture. Anti-influenza A/H5 and A/H9 antibody in pigs was not detected.
