Efficient Solar PV Array System using Modified Algorithm for Water Pumping System

An efficient photovoltaic (PV) water pumping system requires two most important things: A suitable motor to have an efficient run, and to provide a good control to the photovoltaic system, it needs a proper maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system. The system has two levels of power conversion, where, in first stage of power conversion maximum power from a photovoltaic system is extracted by control of DC-DC boost converter duty ratio by implementing MPPT control. For same power injection, the motor power loss needs to be reduced by maintaining low current profile which is done by proper selection of motor and its drive-in aim of this paper is to make the most of the amount of extracted energy from solar using different MPPT technique. The paper is based on MPPT algorithm that is Incremental Conductance (INC) technique to raise PV system energy transfer capacity for water pumping system with the help of induction motor drive. Speed sensor or encoder is eliminated by the use of scalar control. The proposed system is modeled and tested.
