Dielectric properties of two-phase mixture ceramics composed of rutile and its compounds

1992
Dielectric properties of two-phase mixture systems including rutile (TiO2) have been investigated. One of its binary compounds-MnTiO3, ZnTiO3, PbTiO3 and Al2TiO5-was chosen as the second component. Dielectric constants er and their temperature coefficients τe were first examined at 1 MHz. Dielectric properties in the microwave frequency region were measured in the TE011 mode of a cylindrical specimen. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, τf, of MnTiO3 was negative, and a zero coefficient was found at an intermediate composition x=0.13 in the (1-x) MnTiO3-xTiO2 system. In the PbTiO3-TiO2 system, zero τe composition was confirmed at low frequencies, but composition modification trials aiming to make microwave dielectric measurements possible were unsuccessful throughout the entire system.
