Herpes Simpleks Virüs Tip-1, Sitomegalovirüs ve Epstein-barr Virüsleri ile Tekrarlayan Aftöz Ülserler Arasi İlişki The Relation Between Herpes Simplex Type-1, Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr Viruses and Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers

2015
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV1),Ccytomegalovirus (HCMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and, the frequency, number, duration, severity of recurrent minor aphthous ulcers (MiRAU). Material and methods: Sixty two subjects (33 male and 29 female) between 18-55 ages suffering from MiRAU were enrolled the study. Subjects were questioned for the frequency, number, duration, severity of lesions and, additional herpetic lesions followed by the coding for statistical analysis. Serumal levels of HSV-1 IgG, anti-CMV IgG and EBV IgG were determined by ELISA technique. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, reference ranges were accepted as; 0.1-0.2 U/ml for HSV-1 IgG and anti-CMV IgG, 0.91-1.09 U/ml for EBV IgG. Patient data were recorded as below, between or over these values. Results: A positive relation was found between the upper reference values of HSV-1 IgG, anti-CMV IgG and the frequency and the duration of the aphthous ulcers (p 0.05). There was not any statistical significance between the reference values of EBV IgG and the related parameters (p>0.05). Conclusion: In the present study, the serumal positivity of the HSV-1 IgG and anti- CMV IgG was concluded to have a possible affect on the clinical implications of recurrent aphthous ulcers.
