MOTIVOS PARA PACIENTES EM HEMODIÁLISE NÃO INGRESSAREM EM LISTA DE TRANSPLANTE REASONS FOR HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS NOT ENTERING THE TRANSPLANTATION LIST MOTIVOS PARA EL NO INGRESO DE PACIENTES EN HEMODIÁLISIS A LA LISTA DE TRASPLANTE

Objective: to learn the reasons that influence hemodialysis patients, with an indication for kidney transplantation, in not entering the waiting list. Method: an exploratory study, using a qualitative approach, was developed with 15 hemodialysis patients from a kidney clinic in the South of Brazil. Data were collected by means of experience narrative interviews, and submitted to thematic analysis. Results: the reasons for not entering the waiting list were: need for medication; financial implications and difficulties for entering the list; uncertainties and negative transplantation experiences; possibility of complications and return to hemodialysis; fear of death; and the feeling that it was not the right moment. Conclusion: in face of the reasons that influenced the patients in not entering the waiting list, some of them still had questions and uncertainties, which led them not to take a definite stand for entering the waiting list for transplantation.
