Separation of Lymphocyte‐Stimulating and Agglutinating Activities in Phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) from Phaseolus Vulgaris
2009
A method for the fractionation of phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) extracted from Phaseolus vulgaris by chromatography on SE-Sephadex C-50 is described. The two lymphocyte-stimulating substances obtained differ from each other in their chromatographic properties and their ability to agglutinate human blood cells. The procedure offers a simple method for the separation of lymphocyte-stimulating and agglutinating substances in PHA.
