Birt‐Hogg‐Dubé syndrome, from non‐invasive dermatologic assessment to gene testing, molecular and ultrastructural histologic analysis

2019
: The Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome (BHDS), is a clinical disease characterised at dermatological level by cutaneous benign tumors like fibrofolliculomas, and trichodiscomas. BHD includes non dermatologic symptoms like pulmonary cysts or pneumothorax and renal tumours, constituting the classic triad of symptoms. Moreover colon polyps and proclivity to colon cancer can be observed. Fibrofolliculomas, and trichodiscomas are recognised now as the same histological entity, and some authors suggested the new term''Hornstein-Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome.
