The Verification of the TRANSURANUS Fuel Performance Code - an Overview

The paper presents a review of the strategy adopted for the validation of the TRANSURANUS fuel performance code. Additionally, an overview of the verification calculations performed in collaboration with various research centres is provided, whereby the focus is on light water reactor fuel. Verification relies to a large extent on the two main experimental sources of data; namely, the OECD Halden Reactor Project and the International Fuel Performance Experimental database of the IAEA and the OECD/NEA. Finally, an outline of the planned verification work is given and discusses the required experimental data such as those for the new version of the code that deals with loss of coolant accidents are discussed.
