Electron capture by molecules containing an alkoxycarbonyl group

1978
1. Dissociative electron capture by molecules containing an alkoxycarbonyl group has been investigated through study of mass spectra. In the absence of other groupings, the ester group is determinant in fixing the direction followed in such processes. 2. The relative probability of ion formation depends on the stability of the product ion and the structure of the eliminated neutral splinter.
