PILOT PERFORMANCE, TRANSFER OF TRAINING AND DEGREE OF SIMULATION: III. PERFORMANCE OF NON-JET EXPERIENCED PILOTS VERSUS SIMULATION FIDELITY

Abstract : This is the fourth report in a study program dealing with pilot performance, transfer of training and degree of simulation. The purpose of this study was to repeat a previously conducted transfer of training study using non- jet experienced pilots as subjects. Its primary objective was to determine the training feasibility of using degraded levels of simulation fidelity in an Operational Flight Trainer (OFT). Simulation fidelity was varied by incorporating coefficient changes into the aerodynamic equations of flight such that rigid coefficients and least squares approximations to flexible coefficients served as the experimental conditions and flexible coefficients served as the control condition.
